Properties get infested with mice all the time and while it doesn’t sound pleasant, it can’t always be stopped. If you haven’t looked after the property or no longer care about it, then, it’s more than likely you’ll have an issue with rodents. However, even if you have cared for your property, there are no guarantee mice will pass you by; although, there are ways to prevent mice from setting a home in your property. So, along with peppermint essential oil and other repellents, what else can you do to say goodbye to mice?
Humane Traps In the Kitchen, Attic and Basement Areas
While you can spray your home with peppermint essential oil that might only keep the mice that haven’t landed in your property yet, but what about the ones already inside? The trouble is that if there are mice already within the home, you will move them from one area to the next. The truth is that you target certain areas in the home, but that’s not enough when mice are inside. However, you could set humane traps within the home such as in the kitchen, attic, and basement so that you get whatever rodents are left within the home. Just remember these things:
- Use the Right Bait In Your Traps.
- Set The Traps Up In Areas Mice Will Be Attracted To.
- Check and Clear Traps Every Few Days If Necessary.
- Once The Home Is Clear, Spray With Peppermint Oil.
You have to be smart with your traps, but also, after they have done most of the hard work, use peppermint oil to further repel them. A lot of people think once the traps have caught the mice, their trouble is over, but that’s not the case. You have to do more to repel them and keep them away.
Always Target Areas Which Mice Frequent
If the mice have been seen in the bedrooms, bathroom or kitchen, these are the areas to focus on first. Why is that? The mice are used to going into these rooms and as such you have to stop that. However, while you need to target those areas first, you still have to concentrate on other parts of the home so that they don’t just move from one side of the home to the other. If you can spray the entire home with peppermint essential oil and water so that you get rid of the mice entirely.
Keep the Outside Tidy Too
Homeowners forget about the exterior of the home because they don’t think it’s needed. Unfortunately, mice are attracted to untidy and unclean exteriors. Mice can get into overflowing garbage cans and hide in woodpiles and these are the things which must be targeted as well. You can spray peppermint and water solutions around the exterior too so that mice are repelled from those areas as well.
Stop Mice from Ruining Your Property
Mice are tricky and nasty little creatures that turn a home into ruin. If you don’t take action to sort the problem out, you could end up with a heap of problems that are never-ending. It’s a major problem to say the least and happens more often than not. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to detract mice from the home, including essential oils such as lavender and peppermint. Do what you can to save your property.
